In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints, we all take an active role in helping make our church community the best it can be. When you worship with us, everyone you see—from the bishop to the Sunday School teacher to the choir director—is a member of your community who is volunteering his or her time to serve the Lord.
You’ll also hear from people with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences as Church members take turns teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ over the pulpit each week. It’s a great way to learn from each other.
We believe communities work best when everyone is looking out for each other. That’s why we have something called “ministering,” which helps us follow Jesus Christ’s example of serving the sick, the needy, and the lonely.
Through the ministering program, every member of the congregation has someone they’re asked to check on and to whom they lend a helping hand, a listening ear, or a shoulder to cry on if needed. That way no one falls through the cracks and everyone has an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life.
We follow Jesus Christ’s teachings of love and service by looking outside our congregations too. Learn more about our global humanitarian aid programs, local service projects, and other ways you can join us helping others.
